Southwest Airlines Co. has added 8,000 new corporate accounts so far this year and it isn't done yet as the carrier looks to take market share amid the ongoing recovery of business travel demand.
"I think it's completely due to our GDS efforts and our Southwest Business team efforts," Jordan said.According to data presented by Southwest, its share of domestic bookings from travel management companies settled by the Airlines Reporting Corp. increased from less than 1% in the second quarter of 2020 to 6% at the end of last year. Currently, Southwest's share of bookings sits at 10%, according to the presentation.
"Over the long term and even in the medium term, I think our expansion into the managed business travel spaces gives us access to a new pool of travelers we can talk to."
