Prosecutors formally filed charges against Alec Baldwin and the film's armorer on Tuesday, saying they failed to follow gun safety standards that could have prevented the deadly 'Rust' shooting.

Alec Baldwin appears at an event in New York City on Dec. 6, 2022.

The formal filing of the charges against Baldwin and Hannah Gutierrez-Reed comes almost two weeks after New Mexico First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwiesto prosecute the pair for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the deadly Oct. 21, 2021, shooting. Initially, Baldwin approached sheriff's deputies who responded to the incident,"wanting to talk to them because he was the one who '...fired...' the gun," the prosecutors said.

This aerial photo taken on Oct. 23, 2021, shows the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, where Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on the set of a Western film, killing the cinematographer.
