John Horgan is joining the board of Elk Valley Resources, an enterprise that is in the process of being spun off from Vancouver-based Teck Resources

Former British Columbia premier John Horgan is taking a job in the coal industry, and says he is not worried about the criticism the move may draw.

“I’ve got other things that I am going to be working on that may be more to the taste of those who would kick up some dust, but the people that are kicking up dust, oftentimes, kick it up for the sake of kicking it up,” Mr. Horgan said in an interview. Mr. Horgan remained an MLA until Friday, when he officially resigned his seat in the B.C. legislature. He represented a Victoria-area riding.

After enduring treatments for cancer, Mr. Horgan, 64, said his health is good and that he relishes the chance to learn in a new setting. Marcia Smith, the chair of Elk Valley’s board, said Mr. Horgan will bring a depth of experience and a belief in responsible mining to the organization.

jjhorgan is, like most politicians, a hypocrite. Why is anyone surprised?

Two faced, just like we all knew he was

I wish you well, John Horgan. It seems to me many Canadians have been complaining about steel products in Canada originating in China had too much cheap coal in the mix? I could be wrong, but if that’s true, perhaps there’s room 4Canadian coal to now at last play a part 2fix that

This is the guy who spent millions in taxpayer funds on a personal vendetta against the TMX. Pay that back, johnny. Over 70% of us support that project, and you gave us the finger, just like JT, your younger clone, does.

I was concerned about how John was going to support his family on a meager taxpayer funded pension.

All the people who think the Progressive leaders give two shits about the environment, lol! Guys, CC is an issue we have to address, but these ppl pump up the alarm ONLY to use it for their means. How many times you gunna fall for this crap?

Whoa whoa whoa - and we can’t have a pipeline or move oil and gas ….and develop……..no surprise

So much for retiring and taking time with his family....hmmmmmmmmm makes you wonder why Eby is in power now

Must have misplaced his toolkit

This party has always put itself first. Sorry if you believed otherwise but the list of NDP members in the fossil fuel industry is long. They duped a lot of people into thinking they cared about the environment more than just extracting money from it.

🤣🤣🤣

Yes, this is what we've been saying.

Mr. F$&ing environmental!?!? What a joke. LNG no, Coal yes? Hypocrite!!

This Nazi slides into a climate disaster of coal. Let’s me remind you if you don’t live in James Bay get out

The whaling industry didn't have a seat open in time?

Sold his soul to the Devil...

Say it ain’t so John. What happened that you $old out the environment?

I thought this was April fools. My god our governments are so f’ed - across all party lines they are the worst

Of course he did 🙄🙄🙄

Everyone has a price.

Back to the mothership

Great move. Now Horgan can be more honest with his thoughts to people.
