A man travelling in an allegedly stolen car has been arrested after he ploughed through a coffee shop overnight in Melbourne's north-east. 9News

Business owner Lucas Gugliandolo said there was significant damage to the fence out the front of the store along with the front windows.He was in bed when he got the call about the incident.Police allege the car was seen travelling at "high speeds" in Southbank before the crash.

Officers attempted to halt the the car after the driver failed to stop at red traffic lights in Richmond, while allegedly driving at approximately 120km/h in a 40km/h zone.The car is believed to have been stolen last month. Highway patrol officers attempted to intercept the car a second time on Nicholson Street in Fitzroy North but the car didn't stop.

A driver lost control before crashing into a coffee shop at the intersection of Nicholson Street and Miller Street.He is expected to be charged with theft of a motor vehicle and multiple driving, drug and weapon offences.Continue reading
