Hong Kong stocks gained, with the Hang Seng Index HSI, +0.75% up 0.8% at 17,230.59, while the Nikkei 225 Index NIK, +1.10% of Japanese companies rose 1.1% to 31,949.89.

Shares of condiments/sauces firm Kikkoman 2801, +8.05% and semiconductors company SCREEN Holdings 7735, +7.70% increased 8.0% and 7.7%, respectively. Of the Hang Seng Index constituents, retail reits company Link Real Estate Inv Tr 823, +6.69% saw the largest increase Thursday, as shares gained 6.7%.
