After breaking ground in San Antonio’s South Side for its new $500 million factory, U.K.-based heavy machinery manufacturer JCB is breaking into a new market — monster trucks. Dubbed the JCB DIGatron, this beautiful piece of machinery — in its debut season — is set to kick off its first run in the Lone Star State on Saturday and Sunday at Austin’s Monster Jam event.
“The strength of both companies really comes to fruition with this truck,” he adds. JCB seems to be putting down roots in Texas. With the construction of this new factory on San Antonio’s South Side, the privately owned company is establishing its second-largest plant after its headquarters in Rocester, Staffordshire, England. It’ll bring big business to Countdown City — over the next five years, the 720,000-square-foot factory will employ nearly 1,600 workers.
