The Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ondo State chapter, has berated the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state, Kayode Ajulo, over his stance on the failure of the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowumi Isaac, to honour the summons of the State House of Assembly.

According to SDP, Ajulo ought to have focused on his duty as the legal officer of the state instead of turning to the spokesperson of the Finance Commissioner. The Commissioner of Finance had a few days ago failed to honour the invite of the lawmakers who had summoned her to explain the grey areas of the 2024 supplementary budget. The legislators who were infuriated by the development threatened to issue a bench warrant against her.

The SDP, in a statement by its publicity secretary, Oyeniyi Iwakun, said, 'The Attorney General’s statement, filled with excuses and political platitudes, undermines the principle of separation of powers and legislative oversight. 'A summons by the House of Assembly is not a mere invitation to be delegated to a Permanent Secretary, regardless of how busy the Commissioner’s schedule may be.
