Smith talks about injury woes ahead of Currie Cup game against Bulls via SABCNewsOnline

The 2019 Currie Cup kicked-off this past weekend with three fixtures the most notable being the Griquas beating defending Champions the Sharks 37-13 at the Kings Park Stadium in Durban. Smith says that due to pre-season training some of his players have picked up injuries.

Smith will lead the side in the Currie Cup campaign for the last time before leaving for Italy in January next year where he will coach the Italians national side. The 46-year old is disappointed that fullback Malcolm Jaer would not be available for the duration of the cup campaign due to a groin injury.

This will be the first time in two years that the Guinness Pro 14 and Currie Cup would not be overlapping allowing the Cheetahs to have all their players available during the Currie Cup season.
