Power has been restored to more than 5 000 customers in the Dipaliseng municipality in Mpumalanga after they were without power since the weekend.

Residents from the Dipaliseng municipality in Mpumalanga have been without power since the weekend after a fire damaged the Balfour substation.

Eskom spokesperson Dikatso Mothae earlier said that one of the transformers burnt out completely and had to be replaced while the other two had to be shut down as a safety measure.

This media statement by ESKOM is incorrect. It is Saturday and large parts of Balfour is without power. Karan Beef the biggest power user in town only got power Friday night. Large section of the town is till off.
