Millennials are on track to overtake all other age demographics as the largest market share in golf.Topgolf is one company drawing young adults with its "cool" factor.
This increase has millennials on track to overtake all other age groups as the largest market share in the sport, and many in the industry have taken note., golf as a category has grown 25 percent in three years and is one of its fastest growing segments, said Kevin Ross, the vice president and general manager of UA's global golf. "We have always positioned ourselves to be the 'brand of the next generation.
Hally Leadbetter, a member of Golf Digest's social media group, is working to make the sport more accessible to young people, and points to social media sites like Barstool Sports and No Laying Up as places that draw newcomers to the sport by poking fun at it. "Accounts like Barstool Sports and No Laying Up are great. The humorous approach these outlets take on the game is imperative for reaching new demographics and rebranding golf as something 'cool.
That has boosted the popularity of places like Topgolf, a souped up driving range that offers food, drinks and other activities and operates 33 locations internationally, with 16 more in various stages of development. Under Armour introduced a women's golf apparel line last year and has since hit over $1 billion in sales. "We know there is a growing appetite for younger, fashion forward product to outfit her on the course and in every aspect of her life." Ross said.
They’re broke. No they aren’t.
Not true
Yeah right. Like they can afford golf but somehow nothing else
Golf was never cool....Well maybe when Daly and Czervik played.
Who can afford golf, not the working poor, so you must be talking about the rich
Ha ha nope
I'm more a tech person that a sports person myself though.
Why are you posting an outdated article from 2017
LOL golf is trash, gaming or GTFO!
2.5 year old article ?
Sure...wink wink
RiggsBarstool BarstoolTrent the cool guys of golf.
They're hitting a ball then walking to catch up with it then hitting it again walking to catch up hit ball again..until it falls in a hole...got it

Update: golf blows.
Golf is not cool. Golf is stupid.
Great for the game of golf. Warning: us older traditional golfers are going to have to be ok with untucked shirts and music on the course. I am cool with all of that-golf should be fun.
No
Damn. I'll never be able to get a tee time now.
Story from 2017... so mixed emotions. I was in that 19-39 age group back then, but now I’m 40. Can’t tell if I helped make it cool or if I am some out of touch old person.
Other than Tiger it’s never been less cool. And no one was cooler than Tiger. Sit this one out.
The millennials that I know that golf are alcoholics.
Easy does it there boomer.
Wowza. Just short of a miracle. golfrocks
Millrnnials are now olds and most definitely not cool
Well thank god for that! I was so worried!
No. Golf sux.

You see this same story every couple of years, with some new group supposedly flocking to golf, giving it a “cool factor.” Yet golf courses keep closing....and are still mostly the preserve of old white men.
Wow, that’s so boomer 🤣
🐅 Tigers back!!!
Im just wondering how they're affording to play, like most sports it's not cheap.
Most millennials are sensitive leftist snowflakes who don’t have the attention span to appreciate a game which requires a lifetime of dedication, passion and discipline...
HOW CAN ANYONE LIKE GOLF
Sorry, Millennials, golf still isn't cool. (two n's btw in 'millennials')
NO MILLENNIAL is looking to play golf.. Oh wait... It's probably the same millenials that are voting for Biden... They exist only inside media companies And TV talking heads.
You guys run a dozen “millennials are killing this and that” articles a week and the one article in a month you run to put millennials in a positive light...you say we’re into golf (the gray hairs beloved game)? Please, golf is dying and millennials ain’t gonna save it
I heard they wanted to cut it down to 14 holes per round because they were offended by 18.
Great story!
Yes, millenials are bringing cellphones, music boxes and dogs to golf. They tear up the greens, drive their carts on fairways and around greens marked 'no carts' and they chip on practice greens where it is marked 'no chipping.' I'd just as soon they go away.
I made the mistake of checking out the Barstool Sports Facebook page and the first thing I see are frat boy hasbeens yukking it up over a pic of a turkey that looks like a vagina. That certainly brings a 'cool factor' to golf. 🙄🙄🙄
Imagine that! 23-38 year olds are all in the workforce & now have money to play & an interest in advancing their careers
It’s because of barstoolsports
The nice thing about golf is that all ages can play. I’m in my 60s but I’ve had some fun rounds paired up with 20- and 30-somethings (and outdriving them). Just don’t blow cigar smoke in my face.
Millennials are not interested in spending 5 hours on the golf course ... “Millennials want a parallel experience, and Topgolf is built on four things everyone loves – play, food and drinks, music and community' So millennials don’t really like golf. They like driving ranges.
Hit a ball with a stick, then walk after it. Then hit it again. Stupid Fkn game. Lol.
Because it is cool.
No dockers and polo shirts for me!
