About five minutes into trading, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at 24,452.99, up 1.3 per cent. The broad-based S&P 500 gained 1.2 per cent to 2,913.24, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.9 per cent to 8,807.81.
