ICYMI: Why Nigeria Is Borrowing $3.4bn From IMF – Finance Minister

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, has explained why Nigeria is borrowing $3.4bn from the International Monetary Fund.

“The financial package is for assistance to curb this COVID-19 pandemic and the shock that we have had in terms of the crash in the crude oil prices. The assistance, facilitated via the Rapid Financing Instrument , will help limit the decline in Nigeria’s international reserves, the IMF said.

What so ever you say are right considering the compitence of the country managers at present, Nigerians should be ready to take firm stand by 2023.

CORONA POLITICS

China 🇨🇳 is coming to buy Nigeria 🇳🇬 very soon. Most especially after we cannot pay back the loan

All this people they are hungry lion ..they have been looking for chance to bring Nigeria down, anyway I blame those people looking for change, I think they will bear with change now

I thought someone said it was our own money.. that’s it wasn’t been borrowed

Lia Muhammad and lia halima umar faruq, they are 5 and 6.

So no plan for the rainy day? That also means that there is no future plan for this country! We feed from hand to mouth, what a pity.

If I were to be IMF and I were to interview you before giving you a loan you have not convinced me enough that you would use this loan as you have said I reject your explanation you are already rich you don't need my money

I hope y'all know what you're doing.

Seeing her face dey always make me vex

This buhari's wife... Will just end up making Alison madueke look like Tom and Jerry before nigerians The only thing that has come out of her mouth is just money money money and more money

Laughs 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Don't worry the euro areas, and the advanced economies would grant us debt relief. China and Germany have shown us love. Debt upon debt!

Electricity - Zero Security - Zero Job Opportunity - Zero The only advantage of being a Nigerian is that; U can URINATE anywhere 😆😄😃😆

All those ruling this Nation Nigeria 🇳🇬 wrongly will all die by COVID-19 and be buried openly just as they have buried abba kiyari

So you can steal the money we know.

We know why , so that you are bubu and the gang of thieves will have enough money to steal

Madam borrower, when ll u stop borrowing?believe me ,u and Buhari will give account of the money u people are borrowing both the money Efcc collected from people bcos I and my generation will not suffer for this huge debt u're laying down

Am not in support of these loan from IMF, the so called palletive is been politicised, the government need to look inward

Borrow Borrow FM...

God why is Nigeria like this?! 😭😭 Who will save us from this Administration of chronic debtors?! I'm tired

Because tomorrow they won't be there to offset the debt.

Borrowing minister

This is the worst finance minister ever..

freeelectricity for 2 months This will encourage people to stay at home payusviaBVN this will help us buy food to stay at home

I pray D next president of nigeria, will arrest this lier

Ahh heavenly father if dere be leader seating in one position or the other using dis pandemic breakout to extort money all round and burying it underground for dere own selfish interest☹ God of vengeance expose them publicly with thunder and battalions of rat😏😏

The only reason for always borrowing is maladministration or corruption.

FinMinNigeria point of correction, Nigeria has borrowed the money already from IMF & that shows how useless NGRSenate NGRPresident are, after borrowing $3.4bn Buhari begged the criminals in Senate to approve another borrowing which they did, Who are these criminals in Govt?

Wait a seconds.....tot I heard we wasn't borrowing the money dat d money is part of the funds most country are mandated to av as reserves with IMF just incase of emergency

Hmmmmmm! Aimo ise ko orogun, .............

Next time tell us when you will stop borrowing.

To fight covid, support budget, stabilize economy, health, social development, etc. & to be paid back in 5yrs. How much for each of these? What's the organisational outline on how these will be achieved? What's the payment plan? This whole thing doesn't even sound right🙄.

Borrow borrow government, no initiative, just copy and paste

Money that you people will later steal and be telling us all sorts of useless stories, may God help Nigeria sha

It's interesting how repayment won't begin till 2023. By 'coincidence' after Buhari is supposed to relinquish power. Whoever comes in in 2023 will find IMF (plus the Chinese and the other creditors) waiting at the door.

Is it not the IMF that said they can't forgo our Dept and the same IMF approved another loan. Maybe IMF sef dey collect ... from Nigeria.

Olé

These is the worst Finance Minister we have ever had

Every time I see this woman's face I see cluelessness. Her desire to continue the act of borrowing is lazy and displays high level of ineptitude. Not to forget that her former boss Kemi was also like that. Now how will Nigeria pay back those debt with the oil price situation?

Are we borrowing madam minister? A fortnight ago, you refuted that claim that it is our savings we are withdrawing? Now, it has turned to a loan! Haabba, Hajia Usman, stop confusing Nigerians with your unequivocal and incompetence in managing our national resources!

Make IMF sabbi records ooo.....I know fit dey suffer for wetin I know follow enjoy oooo

As beautiful as you are you can't use team to look for ways to finance the budget rather to borroooo

This woman has never offered any reasonable service apart from borrowing money here and there. Anytime she addresses the people, it's all about borrowing. Is she the Minister for Borrowing?

In the write up the loan will be repaid in five years, but payment will start after 3 years. Baba deh plan to run b that..😭🤣🤣

Then I ask. What happened to our ECA and the reduction in bench mark. Even our foreign reserve nko. Abacha loot nko. stoopid people that don't know their left from right.

Will you keep quiet don't pretend as if you don't know anything mtsww

It's our saving with IMF,we're not borrowing; don't destroyed the future of our upcoming generation. ;

This corona has created opportunity for Nigeria government to steal. Nassarawa govern. Can not answer where he get money to buy cars for all his ministers when ppl are crying for hunger at this time. Only God will judge them.

This woman should keep quiet before amadioha strike you down.

My fear is just that they should not one day decide to sell Nigeria.

This woman is beautiful

This woman don blow o! Her cash out legit 😉

This woman is mentally demented!

U guys are cashing out. We havent seen what has even been done with the once collected. Make una know say no be Nigeria they borrow ooo. Na una dey borrow. The vulnerable never got anything.

Criminology

This woman and lia Mohammed are relatives

Na today una dey borrow? We don't care but one day bush meat go catch hunter

Just lease out the country on mortgage already

I don't know d reason why ds present govt borrow money all d tym without showing or tell Nigerians how dey spent d previous one dey've collected.

i dont have prob with it but the prob is that it would end up in the pockets of civil servants and politicians with little to show to Nigerians as gains.

Borrow and loot leaders

On point

Do you have just one good answer in 1 sentence ma'am

But the money is not for the masses is for top govt official

Thief woman.
