a 10 day delay on a prior ruling that said drivers must be classified as employees. A California judge on Thursday refused to grant Uber and Lyft more time to appeal his decision requiring the ride-hailing companies to classify drivers in that state as employees.
At a hearing in San Francisco Superior Court, Judge Ethan Schulman rejected the companies' requests to delay enforcement of his preliminary injunction issued on Monday. Schulman had given Uber and Lyft until Aug. 20 to appeal before the injunction took effect, and both have said they will.Axel Springer, Insider Inc.'s parent company, is an investor in Uber.
It is about damn time. They ARE employees.
Taxis will become relevant again. Uber and Lyft must compete as equals with taxi companies. What a great step towards a genuine free market and a step back from cronyism. Workers win!
