MELAKA: A 25-year-old female university student who was hoping to strike a fortune in cryptocurrency trading ended up poorer by RM86,000 after she was scammed.

State commercial crime chief Supt E. Sundra Rajan said the student was surfing Facebook when she saw an advertisement, promising lucrative returns in 72 hours once she had invested a sum.explaining to her the mechanism on how she would obtain handsome returns.

“Once the student was convinced, she deposited the total amount in five different accounts between Jan 5 and 8, ” he said on Monday . Supt Sundra Rajan said the student discovered she was conned and spoke to her family about her misadventure.“A report was then lodged at Tengkera police station on Jan 8, ” he said.Article type: metered
