CFMEU says members taking part in protests 'not welcome in our industry'

Union leaders say they're trawling social media to identify members involved in protests as police remain stationed around Melbourne's CBD in anticipation of further protests today.

"What we saw yesterday is an insult to the vast, vast majority of tradies and people in the building industry, who are not about wrecking, but building," he said."They're not there to protest, they're there for a fight," he said."It's a real slap in the face to the Victorian community who have been doing it very tough," she said.

Police have warned they will change their tactics today and more than 500 officers will be stationed across the city.

To all the protesters out there, you not protest for me or my family or even your family or your kids and grandparents or grandchildren, You protest because you want to important for yourself and your selfish ego. You all probably been bullied when you young and now you grown.

woodsimon66 The Victorian Liberals should say the same of their members who disgraced themselves at the accident site of the Westgate Bridge and at the Shrine of Remembrance.

Perhaps these mug shots could be at every ED triage

If you’re legit then boot all your crim bikie standover men!

Looks more like CFMEU leaders no longer welcome in the industry

Since when does an outlaw bikie gang dictate employment terms in Australia? Oh, since DanielAndrewsMP of course.

CFMEU docent own sht. There traitors and need to hear it

So strip anyone who took part of their union card

It is NO coincidence that protests against DAN come from ETHNIC THUGS that start at VIC. MARKET!! The reason we have the VOTE is to do it correctly NOT try MAFIA TYPE tactics!!👎🤔👎👺👺👺👺

PatsKarvelas Never seen so many clean, unmarked high-vis jackets in one place at one time. So weird, maybe they knew they would be on the television news and dressed up for the occasion. Worked with tradies for decades, never seen them perfect, I'm suspicious about who these people really are

Well that's a first.

Kick em out of the union !

I can understand the frustration the CFMEU members are feeling as my union the RTBU is also self absorbed and only care about their own existence not the people they are paid to represent.

Get Joe O'Brien off 24 news, his coverage is of riots in Mlb shows a complete lack of the lay out of Mlb CBD, hum, err, hum err. This is what ABC news consider competent commentating. Get Steph on for a live cross.

😂😂😂😂 yeee because historically they never protested

No wonder that membership is falling! You stink!

'People that were involved in the violent protest, you know what, they might as well go and pick fruit in Mildura somewhere,' Yeah, we don't want them thanks

Looked like pretty typical union thug behavior?!

PatsKarvelas Did you leaves out the word 'these'?

It’s time CFMEU and AWU recognised where the best interests of their members are and that is being vaccinated.

Lecturing masses by a repeat domestic violence perpetrator...?!

They are the industry!

Well ban & blackball them Setka!!!

the workers ARE the industry

I don’t condone yesterday at all, but why do we have a union that can dictate who works in their industry? & why are they led by someone who believes he can have people he disagrees with sacked? Their sense of entitlement is whats led to the problem we have today.

Put them all on an iceberg in the middle of the ocean and give them access to fire only

Two week shutdown of construction industry expected following violent Melbourne protestsViolent protests in Melbourne's CBD may trigger a complete shutdown of all construction work in the city. I am a die hard unionist and former delegate but consider builders unionist pussies. Can't work in the rain or without break rooms or vaccinate. Get to over yourselves. Think of the collective not yourselves. Freedom is for all not some. Sucked in. It’s their own fault. Typical unions. Don’t these construction workers realise that they are all replaceable To make out that this is just about protests would mean to ignore the bigger picture. Let's not forget the 70% non-compliance reported last week and that construction sites have become major transmission locations due to this stubborn non-compliance.
