South Africa News News

Former president Thabo Mbeki has urged the government and the business sector to form a social compact and work together for the reconstruction and recovery of South Africa’s economy.

Mbeki added that in July last year, local businesses established a plan that would see them invest R1 trillion in the country’s economy as well as a contribution of R100 billion towards revenue.

He maintained that President Cyril Ramaphosa also produced a reconstruction and economic recovery plan in October 2020 when he addressed the joint sitting of Parliament. Mbeki, however, indicated that Ramaphosa’s plan, though very positive in outlook, was unlikely to drastically reduce the high level of unemployment in the country.

“Therefore the ANC manifesto is emphasising that all these social partners must form a social compact to deliver on the needs of the people. They must work together and it is only through that social compact that houses, roads and jobs will be created.”

lavitosoul first things first...reassure business that government is not about the squandering of public funds and where it does happen, swift action is taken to remove the rot without favour

🙉🙉🙉 what do we pay tax for

Why must business assist! BEE and AA are reverse racism. White people cannot get jobs! We are sick & tired of any form of racism! Get help from your own supporters. Make jobs available to people of all color & stop racism! FoetsekANC

Yabo, this only makes sense if there is no looting of the public purse. Businesses who help gets tax rebates, but hhayi nisatshontsha.

What are taxes for? O yes that's to line your MP's pockets and to be treated as gods..

Lol so where is the tax going then?.

Where's the tax payers money? I forgot it's kept with ANC 🤔

They already do, it's called tax. Want them to do more? Fix the tender process.

Only way the money will get to the people is if you vote DA

Thabo Mbeki is a realists and factual as usual, never ever sugar coats things.

anc made the promises! They should supply! Same as eff, easy to bullshit people into believing

Mbeki and Cyril are in one whatsapp group with capital all this time he has been quiet cuz things were good when thumamina had to break the ANC apart,Now he feels a need to say something to sway the responsibility to a capital cuz that what he is good at.privatization eg.telkom

Why not? Corruption has cost us nearly a trillion rand since 1994. Good governance first which includes service delivery. Politicians are not interested in solving problems but enriching themselves!

It seems the role of the MYANC government is to simply evade responsibility.....

There are 2 ANCs. The corrupt and the real ANC

Business are sick and tired of not been helped and milked by taxes.

The fucking genius that just say shit. This old men brains are dead or he is khanye west the old version

Though SAns may not want to admit it,the pre-94 deal shoved down the government's throat by the IMF-Wold Bank's conditional loans privatised economic driving functions to benefit few politically connected individuals. The government had enough job creating capacity.

Why then having thay in the manifesto, get the failing government out and have a party that can deliver. We vote for a political party not businesses except anc members where busineses determine the leader.

Interesting word choice there...'will not' constitutes they are able to bit refuse to. A government refusing to deliver while milking citizens with taxes and they have the audacity to ask that people vote for them. This country is in REALLY deep shit!!!

Business must assist while you strangle the life out of them.

What's the government's job now?

Speaking like we're on 10% unemployment rate, there's 35+% unemployment rate with 59% youth being unemployed.40% go to bed hungry... Anc doesn't care about us, we should vote out these idiots fast.

Fokof wena Mbeki... You sold our state owned Steel industry.(ISCORE)

She is his role in government ?he speaks like someone who still has influence in government

Talking nonsense business already pays tax
