TOKYO, Nov 19 ― Tokyo stocks closed higher today as investors largely welcomed fresh Japan stimulus designed to shore up its pandemic recovery.

The broader Topix index was up 0.44 per cent or 9.01 points at 2,044.53 and added 0.2 per cent from a week before. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced a record US$490 billion stimulus for the world's third-largest economy today, as he looks to shore up the country's patchy pandemic recovery.
