US President Joe Biden is blaming recent food price rises on four large meatpacking companies, which he claims have been unfairly treating farmers and consumers.

This comes as a Fox Business poll in December showed 84 per cent of Americans were worried about the higher prices.

President Biden blamed the large meatpacking industries for monopolising the market and driving prices up. Using $1 billion from the American Rescue Plan, the Biden administration says it intends to help independent meat and poultry producers train workers, finance infrastructure, and provide loans and support to businesses.
