The Unity in Diversity E-hailing Association says its been calling on government to intervene and regulate the industry, yet nothing has been done.

“The reality is that we’ve been in an abusive relationship with these app companies, they just do as they please when it comes to us," said Nkosinathia Zwane.

"They call us partners but in reality, we do not understand the kind of relationship we have with them, every decision they make from taking prices down, to downgrading our cars, to drivers being blocked for minor offenses, they do not consult, there are no processes."They just do as they please, and our government has kept silent for far too long.

"There is nothing that the government is doing, and that is why we will be embarking on an nation shut down on e-hailing from tomorrow [Tuesday] up-until Thursday.”

As a regular user, my vote is for Uber to regulate themselves than for an incompetent government to intervene. If the drivers don’t like it, then go find another job.
