Vancouver-based clothing brand Smash + Tess recently teamed up with Barbie to create a capsule collection that celebrates “women’s social, economic, cultural and political achievements.”
Initially timed for release for International Women’s Day, the size-inclusive collection features the brand’s trademark rompers — including options for women and kids — as well as a T-shirt and pants, each featuring the recognizable ‘Barbie pink’ Pantone colour.Article contentPhoto by Smash + Tess “Barbie is the original fashion doll who inspired girls to consider a non-traditional path. She represents freedom; women can do whatever they want and be whoever they want,” Ashley Freeborn, founder and CEO of Smash + Tess, said in a news release. “Since Day 1, championing women in leadership roles has been at the forefront of Smash + Tess. This partnership with Barbie takes us one step further in our vision of a brighter future with diverse and powerful women at the helm.
The collaborative collection also saw the Canadian company pledge a $10,000 donation to Girl Up, an initiative that aims to increase leadership roles and opportunities for young girls.
