Balenciaga and Vogue are the latest fashion companies to sever ties with rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, also known as Ye, after a string of controversial comments made by the artist online and during public appearances.

to Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted and Chair Thomas Rabe urging the company to sever ties with the artist in light of his anti- Semitic remarks.In September, he told Bloomberg it was time for"It's fine. I made the companies money. The companies made me money. We created ideas that will change apparel forever," West told Bloomberg.

West called Adidas and Gap his"new baby mamas," adding,"I guess we're just going to have to co-parent those 350s," referring to the Adidas' Yeezy Boost 350 sneakers.Anadolu Agency/Getty Images Before Ye's collaboration with Adidas, the artist was set to be the first non-athlete to release a sneaker line with sportswear giant Nike.Ye left his deal with Nike over a royalties dispute. In a radio interview, he alleged that Nike refused to pay him royalties because he was"not a professional athlete."

"I took the Adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family," he said in theAfter the deal went south in 2013, the rapper partnered up with the company's competitor, but not before a limited amount of Air Yeezy sneakers were released to the public.
