One such report was released late last month by Power Advisory, a consultancy, and commissioned by The Atmospheric Fund. It concluded that Ontario’s plan to expand natural-gas generation would increase grid emissions by 260 per cent by 2040. Moreover, it found that a mix of solar and wind generation, coupled with storage and energy efficiency initiatives, would be more affordable and could keep rates on par with what Ontarians pay today. Existing gas plants would be used only sparingly.
Carolyn Kim, senior director for communities and decarbonization for the Pembina Institute, said in a statement that the IESO had underestimated how reliable clean generating assets can be, and overestimated the competitiveness of natural gas.
The only way to do this is with massive investment into nuclear. But these clown politicians would rather virtue signal and try to shut down nuclear and turn to pipe dreams like wind and solar 😂🤡

All the fossil plants were closed a decade ago. 28% of capacity is gas but nuclear normally provides 65% and hydro 25%. Ongoing investment in nuclear to extend the operating life of existing units has nuclear down to 45% right now and gas is picking up the shortfall.
Ontario’s grid is one of the cleanest in North America perhaps globally as well. Ontarian’s have paid dearly for that. Let the rest of the world catch up while doing what is feasibility and continue to look at conservation measures.
Small scale nuclear is the only feasible way to go....put them where they're needed rather than huge transmission line costs. Still will be expensive, but less than these industrial turbines in everyone's back yard like in Germany - and they still have no power...

Massive investment in nuclear generation is required. Massive upgrades to distribution. Both needed to power electric car charging, home heating and domestic hot water. But this won’t happen. They will tell you to stay home instead. Climate will be the new Covid.
