‘Straight-talking, hard-working’ father of two killed on the job at Campbell River fish-packing companyA fish-packaging company in Campbell River is mourning the loss of a long-time worker who died on the job.
Jamie Prodaehl, 53, died in a work-related incident on Jan. 17, confirmed David Stover, the company’s co-owner. “It’s a small company, everyone’s like family and we’re just dealing with it as best we can. We’re supporting one another, and I can’t say more than that,” Stover said when reached by CHEK News Thursday.
Prodaehl, who leaves behind a wife and two children, is described by Brown’s Bay staff as a star worker who never missed a day in his 27 years at the company. They say they’re “deeply saddened” by his passing.Sign up for our newsletter to get breaking news and daily digests sent to your email.
“The purpose of our investigation is to identify the cause of the incident, including any contributing factors, so that similar incidents can be prevented from happening in the future,” the spokesperson said.
