After the most expensive home listed in San Francisco this year found a buyer and went into contract around the beginning of the month, a new Pacific Heights mansion has taken its place as the priciest listing currently available in the city.

The home, designed by architect Nathaniel Blaisdell and built in 1910, originally cost $42,500 to build on its triple oversized street-to-street lot. Of course, that was a lot back then. It was commissioned by George Lingard Payne, who owned a carriage bolt factory, also designed by Blaisdell. It was fully renovated in 2012 as part of a two-year project and now includes a 1,500-bottle temperature controlled wine cellar with hidden case storage, Golden Gate Bridge view penthouse level, modernized electric, plumbing and heating and a full seismic upgrade. There's also a walk-out landscaped garden.
