ESKOM LIVE | Load shedding escalated (again) after breakdowns in the small hours

Load shedding has been escalated to Stage 4 from 05:00 on Saturday, not Stage 3 as previously communicated, Eskom said in the early hours of the morning.

Load shedding will then downgrade back to Stage 3 until 16:00, and return to Stage 4 at 16:00 on Sunday, where it will remain overnight. 03 May 16:22Eskom has hailed a judgment where former accountant Sifiso Masina, who was found guilty of fraud, was ordered to pay back all the money he stole from the power utility while working at middle management level at Kriel power station.

"Over the past 24 hours a generation unit each at Camden and Tutuka power stations were taken out of service due to breakdowns. The delay in returning units to service at Arnot, Camden, Duvha, Kendal, Kriel, Lethabo, Matimba, Matla and Tutuka power stations continue to add to the current capacity constraints.

Delays in returning a unit to service at Arnot, Duvha, Kriel and Lethabo power stations contributed to the current capacity constraints. Eskom said its team is working around the clock to ensure that generating units are returned to service as soon as possible. Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 today until 05:00 on Thursday, Eskom announced.

Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Monday until 05:00 on Tuesday. After that, Stage 4 will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00 on Tuesday, followed by Stage 6 until 05:00 on Wednesday. Stages 3 and 4 planned for the week ahead "The theft of [oil] is a highly organised criminal activity and syndicates involved are being enriched through the proceeds derived from the illicit trade of the stolen products. Eskom continues to lose billions of rands due to the misappropriation and adulteration of these critical commodities, which directly affects production," said Karen Pillay, General Manager for Security at Eskom.
