While longshore workers returned to B.C. ports early Thursday, lingering uncertainty about the fate of labour talks has panicked businesses from coast-to-coast, leaving industries at a standstill and renewing calls for the federal government to intervene.

“Businesses need certainty. Without a clear message from government at this time, businesses are forced to plan for the worse,” said Robin Guy, vice-president and deputy leader for government relations for the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, which has called on the Liberals to bring in back-to-work legislation.Read up to 3 free articles per week.
