An application has been submitted for the bar to takeover a former vape shop on Burscough Street in Ormskirk

A licence application has been submitted for a new bar to open on Burscough Street in the historic market town. The town centre street has seen a number of businesses close in recent months.

The two businesses have a strong family connection, as Tank is run by Paul Whittaker and his father Ian has helped his partner Trine launch her dream jewellery shop, where she also repairs and repurposes items for customers.Tiny Tavern would takeover the former vape shop Mersey Vapour, which has downsized to occupy just the single unit next door. The vacant unit had been earmarked for high end gin bar Remedy, with an application submitted to West Lancs Council last spring.

The original Remedy first opened as a cafe bar on Southport's Lord Street in July 2015, predominantly serving coffee and fresh food alongside specialist drinks such as artisan craft gin and fine malt whisky.
