The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has issued five new directives to electricity distribution companies (DisCos) in response to the recent tariff hike. The directives include charging the new rate only to the approved Band A feeders and setting up a portal for customers to check their current bands.

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, has issued five new directives to electricity distribution companies following the recent tariff hike. The directives were in a recent notice signed by the Deputy General Manager of Market Competition and Rates, Abba Terab. Recall that NERC last Tuesday approved a N225 per kilowatt-hour electricity tariff for Band A electricity customers getting at least 20 hours of power supply.

It mandated All DisCos to immediately post the schedule of approved Band A feeders affected by the rate review on their websites. The Commission stressed that all DisCos should set up a portal on their website by April 10, 2024, allowing all customers to check their current bands by entering their meter or account numbers.
