Instead, Australia has been selling plastic waste to Southeast Asian countries, Malaysia in particular, which took China’s place as the world’s largest importer of plastic rubbish.
“When you throw this stuff in your recycle bin at home you might like to think again,” Bartlett says. But there, the mountains of plastic waste can often end up in illegal processing facilities and junkyards. It’s a big problem – and many players within the recycling industry are calling it for what it is: a load of rubbish.
“I think most people in Australia feel lied to, I think they feel disappointed,” Plastic Forests founder and owner David Hodge tells Liam Bartlett.Mr Hodge says governments and regulators need to step up and save Australia’s recycling industry before it’s too late.“Now we're here and we're drowning in plastic.”
We’ve been conned, shopping bags ,straws all bullshit Drink container refunds a cash cow for government, all a big con
Now do you see that our government and media mostly hits provide us false stories. They do nothing and you vote for them - keep placing your important vote with parties that do nothing! Change happens when people change
Yet people taking cans out of my bin for 10 cents are breaking the law. Honestly whats the point anymore. Only in Australia can we mess good things up. It's like we have to break it when it works.
Not one part of this surprises me
The whole climate scare is garbage. Just a big money maker.
I’ve known this for years.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA the green dream is a fraud, what a surprise.
It's been known for years that this is happening. Nobody seems to care or do anything about it unless the news covers it. Then there's a bit of outrage but ultimately nothing changes and everyone goes back to their sheep-like behavior.
And all the different coloured bins 😂
We pick up your garbage don't we !! Who cares if we are conning you a little bit, Pick pick pick details details details, Whinge Whinge Whinge Blah Blah Blah When dose it End, you 99%ers picking on us constantly? We will return your garbage if you keep complaining about it
Isn't the role of the environmental minister(s) is to act on this and why have they not mentioned this prior and put it up as one of the main priorities.
There is money to be made in recycles , but not enough for the greedy .
The indoctrinated masses.
And this happens because the Greens dont want plastic to be recycled in Australia, they prefer it to go elsewhere
I’m not surprised. Until I see a totally transparent recycling company taking plastic and other products that they claim they can recycle, I don’t believe it. We waste so much time and effort sorting out the stuff to be recycled at work.
Yes and how many times have our environmental parties brought it up.
Unbelievable, years of making us think we were doing the right thing.

Recycling industry demands Federal action as mountains of rubbish builds upThere are plenty of examples of successful recycling operations in Australia. Why isn't more being done asks Phillip Lasker If we had a decent environmental party in this country they would be all over this. This is not new news. Export to india, malaysia etc... Where waste management is coast effective one like this👇👇 Energy generation from incineration rather than landfill should also be a consideration at least until the recycling industry grows to cope with the size of the task.

The HIA doesn't want any changes to negative gearing rules. Lol. With HIA, would there ever be a good time?

China's coal industry lashes Australia for 'irresponsible comments'A Chinese coal industry official has criticised Australia for biting the hand that feeds at a coal conference in Beijing, a rare public acknowledgement that diplomatic tensions could be the cause of slowing trade. Because they buy lots of resources from us means we should be quiet? I dont think so. China tells everyone not to interfere in its internal affairs. China should practice what it preaches and stop meddling in Australian affairs. China is currently developing coal power capacity equivalent to the entire capacity of the United States. Chinese representatives dont make unscripted statements; this is a strategy to create favourable trading conditions for its anticipated demand for Australian coal. 😂😂😂🖕
