Maria O'Neill remembers 'absolutely sobbing in her room' when she received her school exam results but now has her own business working with major fashion designers.

A Paisley businesswoman is encouraging Renfrewshire school leavers not to be disheartened if their exam results aren’t what they expected – as she shares how there is more than one route to success.

Maria says that even her college exams didn’t work out exactly as she had planned but was fortunate enough to bag herself a spot at Glasgow University. “And yes, school, college and university were all really important stages of education but all of the knock backs, life experiences and twists and turns along the way made me resilient.And just in 2021, Maria took the plunge and started her own business, Maria Elizabeth Designs.
