Aldi has revealed the list of 'priority' locations that it is targeting for new sites across the UK - and it includes two Scottish towns.
According to the retailer, it is looking to target locations that will be able to accommodate a 20,000 sq foot store with around 100 parking spaces. They should also be near a main road with good visibility and access for its customers. Now the UK's fourth largest supermarket, Aldi currently operates 1,000 stores across the country. However, its unprecedented expansion plans will see it boost its stores to 1,500.
Not only has the retailer committed to opening new stores, but it has also invested £79 million this year alone into pay increases for staff members. This included a second pay rise in June for store assistants, with the hourly wage now up from £12.00 to £12.40, and from £13.55 to £13.65 for those within the M25.
