Funerals of the 16 people that were gunned down in Lusikisiki in the EC to be held this weekend.

The 21-year-old Ruth King is the first person to be buriedThe suspect was charged with 18 counts of murders and one count of being in possession of unlicensed firearm.

Family and friends described King as a humble person, who was fond of her family. A family member, David King, says after fetching Ruth’s spirit from where the incident happened, it became real. David King says her death left a void that will never be filled. “At this point, it is still unbelievable that this has happened and the way it has happened, the way I lost my cousin. I am deeply hurt and I just hope that her death was not in vain, and that perpetrators get caught and dealt with.”A resident, Andile Maqhutywa says they are a bit relieved after a suspect was arrested.

“Now that a person has been arrested, we feel better. We believe more people will be revealed because the suspect is talking to the police. We have hope that they more will be arrested,” he says.
