IPOH: Pasir Pinji is set to get a new wet market after a two-day public voting process.

Some 1,715 city folk turned out to vote over the weekend, with about 94%, or 1,615 people, in support of rebuilding the market.The referendum and public voting process was called by Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee to allow city folk to determine the fate of the market.

Some 10,000 ballot papers were printed for the exercise, which was conducted by the Ipoh City Council.Another RM2mil would be used to build a temporary one to house the traders while the new market is being built. In an earlier press conference, Lee said he has held public engagement sessions with the traders and those who wanted a new market had voted for one that had a ground floor and a basement parking area."Another key element to the new market is that it would have 'green technology'.Tags / Keywords:
