.Twitter whistleblower claims company had 'extreme, egregious' security problems

The complaint, filed by the former Twitter head of security Peiter Zatko, alleges that Twitter had"extreme, egregious deficiencies" in its security practices and failed to take sufficient measures to protect its hundreds of millions of users.Zatko's most serious accusations include that Twitter violated its 2011 settlement with the Federal Trade Commission when it falsely claimed it had a security plan, according to a copy of the complaint acquired by the Washington Post.

The vulnerabilities revealed allowed at least one hacker to access several celebrities' accounts, including that of former President Barack Obama, to try and request bitcoin from users, he said. Twitter also had been forced to put an agent of the Indian government on its payroll, according to Zatko.

Twitter whistleblower claims company’s practices pose national security risk | EngadgetTwitter’s former security chief has raised serious questions not just about the company’s security practices, but the potential for foreign governments and entities to influence the company.. Uh, no. They would need a security clearance Does Twitter have access to sensitive or classified documents? Do they already sell user information to anyone willing to buy it? I struggle to see how a social media company like Twitter becomes a national security risk. Yeah right.. They want to operate like an independent entity in every country, irrespective of local laws or sovereign countries and this won't fly as Twitter has enormous power in social discourse & narratives.

Twitter whistleblower to testify about company's 'widespread security failures' at Senate hearing | EngadgetTwitter’s former security chief will testify at a Senate hearing about the company’s security practices.. Why is this such a surprise, I am also pretty sure some US government officials have also infiltrated Twitter, Meta, Alphabet, and others to extract information and get a better idea about people as well as manipulate people. Should this really be a surprise to anyone? 🫠 If you truly believe that every large company doesnt lie about their security posture despite having certs, ive got some beans to sell you
