SAPS recovers high-calibre firearms believed to have been used in the Lusikisiki mass murder.

Police also confirmed the arrest of two more suspects in Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape, after they were found in possession of the rifles.

National Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the high-calibre firearms have been taken in for ballistics testing. Mathe says, “Through intelligence and meticulous detective work, the high-calibre firearms were recovered on Thursday evening. They include three AK47 automatic rifles and a two-for-three Steyr Maxillary rifle. Two more suspects have been arrested after they were found to be in possession of these rifles.”

Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearms were moved to a different location following the killings. The recovered firearms have been sent for ballistics testing to determine if they were used in the Lusikisiki murders and to identify any other crimes they may be linked to.believes it has recovered the high calibre firearms used in the commission of the crime that led to the killing of the 18 Lusikisiki victims.
