But she cautions that should not be the path for everyone.
“I don’t want to be celebrated for having ovaries,” she says, 40, now in her 12th season with the 49ers. “I want to be celebrated because I kill it at my job in sports.” During college I had interned with the Oakland Raiders and their chief executive then was Amy Trask, who I believe at the time was the only woman in a non-ownership chief executive role for an NFL team. She really took a mentoring role with all of us. They say if you can see it, you can be it, so I aspired to have a role like hers one day.[My mom, a public servant] took a break in the middle of her career and had to relaunch it.
