Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe, has denied reports that he is deliberately deepening the country’s energy crisis by refusing municipalities to procure energy from Independent Power Producers . The country is experiencing rotational power outages – with fears that this could be ramped to Stage 6.
However, earlier the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced short and medium-term interventions to meet the country’s energy demands.Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa is meeting Eskom board and management. Ramaphosa is expected to brief the media after the meeting.
