As of Monday, the wholesale price of pork had held steady at about 50 yuan per kg and the average prices of 28 vegetables increased 7.2% to 5.83 yuan per kg from Jan. 23, said Song Danyang, a senior official with the ministry, at a press conference.Song added that the prices of vegetables in Wuhan, the epicentre of the epidemic, have fractionally retreated after seeing an uptick in early February.

The ministry has smoothed the channels for farm produce sales and organized wholesale markets to purchase farm produce stock in response to the fluctuating prices in some areas to minimise the impact of the novel coronavirus outbreak, according to Song. - Xinhua/Asian News Network
