The Australian's John Stensholt says the $250 million loan secured by the NRL will “tie the competition over” until late May when “hopefully some broadcasting money will kick back in”.

The Australian's John Stensholt says the $250 million loan secured by the NRL will “tie the competition over” until late May when “hopefully some broadcasting money will kick back in”. Banks in the United Kingdom have agreed to provide the NRL with a much-needed loan secured against future revenue and a new date has been set in late May to re-launch the competition.

Mr Stensholt described the loan as “bridging finance” which will allow the NRL to “keep paying the bills and keep paying the players”. He said the loan was a “costly” but necessary move which the NRL “could be paying back for several years”. It was “more difficult for the NRL to get a loan because the game hasn’t been run ‘as well’ as the AFL has,” Mr Stensholt said. “It hasn’t got money for a rainy day or bought significant assets".

250 million and Only till May talk about a sport that is being mismanaged and run by over paid clowns with over paid players living beyond their means

250 loan what a joke ...no money I see What happen to the deal with Nine two years ago ....where is that so call deal ..What more lies

Money what they don't have any ....hmmmm that's a joke ..Just shows the CEO has no.idea of running an organization.

Tie them over for 6 weeks, then screw them into bankruptcy a further 6 weeks down the track. Morons.

Churning through $41 million a week....

The fuck are they doing if it will only last 6 weeks?

With what they earn you would think they would have a bit put aside for a rainy day.

Remember those high esteemed and all round good guys, the players, are suffering. The people on Centrelink will just have to suck it up.

Can’t believe their arrogance with planning the re start and where they will play whilst everyone else are getting fines for unnecessary travel.

Is this sarcasm, parody or satire? $250 million for 6 weeks? What is the NRL spending the money on PhilGould15 ? Danny_Weidler AndrewVossy nrl

$250 million to cover them for 6 weeks? WTF?
