Salesforce, a leading cloud-based, software-as-a-service company, announced this week that employees may work-from-home until at least July 31, 2021

Hyder wrote about this challenge, “To deepen our support for working parents—many of whom are experiencing a difficult start to the school year—we’ve expanded our family care leave, making parents eligible for six weeks of paid time off. In June, we increased our global back-up child care offerings through the summer so employees can get reimbursed up to $100 per day for 5 days each month. And today, we've extended that through the end of January 2021.

As the work-from-anywhere trend continues, it's reasonable to believe that companies won’t have to rely upon hiring people that live within commuting distance from their homes. This will open up opportunities for people who live in cities and states that lack a robust job market with lots of top companies. It will hurt many others. Companies will recruit the smartest, most talented people from across the United States.

Barring any miracle vaccine developed in the short run, it seems that the way we work won't be exactly the way it was pre-Covid-19. The logical answer will most likely be a blended hybrid solution. Companies will have to allow the continuation of remote work due to potential legal liabilities and alienating their staff.
