“We believe these inclusion standards will be a catalyst for long-lasting, essential change in our industry,” Academy President David Rubin and Chief Executive Dawn Hudson say

For films to be considered for Best Picture, they music meet criteria that includes two of four standards: Standard A “Onscreen Representation, Themes and Narratives,” Standard B “Creative Leadership and Project Team,” Standard C “Industry Access and Opportunities” and Standard D “Audience Development.

For example, Standard A requires at least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors to be from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group; the general ensemble cast must include 30 percent of actors from at least two underrepresented groups; and/or the main storyline theme or narrative of the film is centered on an underrepresented group.

The Academy will require films for the 94th and 95th Oscars ceremonies, which take place in 2022 and 2023, to submit a confidential Academy Inclusions Standards form to be considered for Best Picture, though meeting the inclusion thresholds will not be required until the 96th Oscars in 2024. Currently, none of the other Oscars categories will be subject to the new standards.

Stop whinning people!

I’m a super liberal person. But even I think this is a bad move. It should really just be about the work as THE standard

This is a mistake as it clearly forces diversity over hard work. Plus how can we « verify » who is really a member of the LGBT+ community or if someone is Hispanic or Middle Eastern. In my opinion, it separates communities instead of bringing people together as movies do...TBD

in other words, a bad film with a lot of diversity and inclusion will be nominated for an Oscar. how ridiculous!

So more of who you blow instead of whether the movie or acting was at all good?

And the winner is...... A one legged, gay, white/black actor probably with nil talent, but hey, ‘it’ ticks all the boxes. Another sell out to woke liberal claptrap. Madness

So, not the best?

The sole criteria should be artistic merit.

The sole standard should be artistic merit.

Stupidity.
