The Victorian Government will shut the construction industry for two weeks describing 'non compliance' at work sites and 'appalling behaviour' from the rally on Monday that saw union members, tradies and police clash on Melbourne streets.

The Victorian construction industry will be shut down for two weeks in what the Andrews Government has described as a"rest".

Discussions went well into the night, with more details to be provided during Tuesday's COVID-19 press conference. “We’ve been clear: if you don’t follow the rules, we won’t hesitate to take action – we have seen widespread noncompliance across the industry and that’s why we’re taking necessary steps to protect every single Victorian," he said.

The closure is estimated to cost the industry $455 million a day with the two week closure costing $6.3 billion in revenue.

I fully support DA and Victoria Government to shut down these selfish demonstrators on our Labor UNION centre. I appeal for the deployment of RIOT POLICE to protect our police against these hooligan demonstrators and our Victorians Labor UNION movement

Open the borders, and when the antivaxxers contract covid they will protest that the opening of the borders caused them to get the covid virus (if they live to complain).

Two week shutdown of construction industry expected following violent Melbourne protestsViolent protests in Melbourne's CBD may trigger a complete shutdown of all construction work in the city. I am a die hard unionist and former delegate but consider builders unionist pussies. Can't work in the rain or without break rooms or vaccinate. Get to over yourselves. Think of the collective not yourselves. Freedom is for all not some. Sucked in. It’s their own fault. Typical unions. Don’t these construction workers realise that they are all replaceable To make out that this is just about protests would mean to ignore the bigger picture. Let's not forget the 70% non-compliance reported last week and that construction sites have become major transmission locations due to this stubborn non-compliance.
