In my humble opinion, cafes need to do very little to entice their customers, their cosy nature and no frills take on food and drink are enough to settle debates on where to eat.
But I walked past the counter, I stopped, mouth open in shock at the size of some of the pastries. Piles of giant eclairs, tarts, croissants and cinnamon swirls were stacked up behind the glass, the biggest I'd ever come across. I went for a tropical trio of mango, pineapple and orange, whizzed together to create some sort of sugary drink that would restore my energy levels and more importantly, cool me down. Of course I hadn't come for a drink alone, after all, it wasn't the drinks board that had me stopping in my tracks, probably causing the unfortunate person who find themselves behind me to roll their eyes.
Most likely sensing my shock over having the huge éclair placed in front of me, the kind lady placed the pastries down with a slight chuckle and left me to really get a good look at the treats. Never in all my life have I been served an éclair with a knife and fork but the staff at Cherry Pie clearly appreciate the size of their huge pastries and provided me with a set, essential tools I needed to, quite literally, dig in.
