Sky News Political Reporter Joel Philp says gas companies have labelled last-minute consultations with the Treasury a “sham process”.

Less than three hours notice for the consultation left company executives scrambling but they still managed to ask some “tough questions,” Mr Philp said.

A meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and gas company executives has been scheduled for tomorrow after they were left unsatisfied with the outcome of today’s rushed consultation.

At this rare moment one of the few entities I would trust LESS than SKYNews would be the gas & coal companies...

I reckon they probably wouldn’t do that, wouldn’t they? Because the new Labor government is threatening their profiteering, price gouging cartels who have previously being able to rip Australians off for their own gas and oil. Who really cares with gas companies say?

Greens support needed to pass price caps as Coalition moves for coal company compensationSky News Political Reporter Joel Philp says support from the Greens is needed to pass energy legislation, as the Coalition wants compensation for coal companies if operating costs are above price caps. “Any companies which have an operating cost which is above that cap, those companies could be compensated in negotiations,” Mr Philp said. “The Greens say they don’t want that to occur, that fossil fuels companies shouldn’t be compensated.” How can the government legally cap prices (lower profits) and not provide compensation? Gotta love when even Labor can’t crack a deal with the Greens. They are so unrealistic and narrow minded.

Gas company insiders accusing government of ‘plotting’ sector overhaul in secretSky News Political Reporter Joel Philp says gas company insiders are accusing the federal government of “plotting” an overhaul within its sector in secret, as companies consider the impact of a cap on fossil fuel prices. “Today, some major gas producers have come out swinging, saying that these interventions will actually make the situation worse,” he said. of course is backing the mostly overseas owned gas companies that have been ripping us off for years! It’s our gas and we should benefit, not just overseas shareholders If Australian Politicians adhered to our Constitution Sect 51 & Chapter 4 in finance & Trade we (the people) perhaps would not be suffering this kind of corrupt corporate behavior on our (the peoples) resources.

Government ‘staring down’ gas and energy supply companiesSky News Political Report Joel Philp says the government has been “staring down” gas companies like Shell and Woodside Energy who have threatened to withdraw from landmark gas supply deal. “Energy Minister Chris Bowen … saying well the CEO of these companies need to look to maximise their profits, but the government has a duty in shielding the Australian public from these inflationary spikes,” he said. Makes you wonder why no-one in Cabinet was 'staring down' Woodside and Conoco-Philips when they were about to rip off our impoverished next-door neighbours in East Timor. Maybe they were already 'staring down' the fat pay packets they would receive as consultants. Yep, I remember how well staring down Holden went for the Libs. Companies go were they can make a decent profit, we are a Free Market, not Communist or Socialist. This is a government create issue, so let's not blame the gas companies. We need to move away from this current madness under the Climate Change wokness. Build nuclear plants & get back to looking after the taxpayers who employ the Government. Labor do you job we are your boss.
