The latest inflation data, released on Wednesday, showed that prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages were 12.4% higher than a year ago. This is only slightly down from 12.5% in November. Bread and cereal prices rose by more than 20% in the year to December, while oils and fats were also much more expensive.
