The CRTC will drop internet wholesale rates in an effort to boost competition following a wave of acquisitions by big telecom companies.

Vicky Eatrides, chairperson and CEO of the CRTC, says the regulator is dropping internet wholesale rates. "Canadians want more competition. So that's pretty clear from public sentiment," she said.The CRTC is moving to help Canada’s independent internet providers after a wave of acquisitions by big telecoms, which critics have warned would lead to higher prices for internet service.
