A major lottery prize is up for grabs after the US Powerball jackpot rose to a staggering $A2.4 billion for Tuesday’s draw. Australians can try their luck in the draw through The Lottery Office. But get in quick, entries close at 11am AEDT. The lack of a winner in Sunday’s draw has brought the total jackpot to $1.55 billion , one of the largest prizes in US Powerball history. The last Powerball jackpot win was on July 19, when a single Californian won $A1.695 billion.
US Powerball draws take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10.59pm US eastern time — which means for Australians the draws are on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 1.59pm AEDT. Each game costs $7, and players pick five numbers from a pool of one to 69, plus another number between one and 26. Overall, the chances of winning a prize are one to 25 per game, according to The Lottery Office. The odds of winning the jackpot are much slimmer, at one in 292.2 million, US Powerball says.
