US private equity giant Blackstone Group confirmed it has acquired a controlling stake in Irish data centre business Winthrop Technologies in a deal that values the company at more than €800 million. Meta has secured permission to use diesel generators to power its Irish data centres if it has to come off the national grid in the event of an energy emergency.

Staying with AI and Google this week unveiled a host of updates to its artificial intelligence offerings for cloud computing customers, emphasising that the technology is safe and ready for use in the corporate realm.
