The impact of a data breach affecting MediSecure eScript — an organisation which formerly handled electronic prescriptions as they were sent from prescriber to pharmacy — was confirmed by the company on Saturday. MediSecure was one of two prescription delivery services operating nationally until late last year, when the Australian Government decided to exclusively use eRx Script Exchange as its external provider for the service.
” The National Cyber Security Coordinator and relevant government departments, agencies and regulators are working together on a response that is still in its early stages, the Department of Home Affairs said on Saturday. The current, and only, national prescription service, Fred IT Group’s eRx Script Exchange , has not been affected, the department confirmed.
