Country Road has issued an urgent recall on a popular buy amid fears that it may pose “significant” safety risks. The major retailer has pulled its Two-Tone Demm Mugs from sale after a serious defect was identified. The recalled mugs feature Country Road’s iconic logo and have been a popular purchase and gift option for many customers. But now Country Road warns they can cause “burns, lacerations and scalding” when used.

Another said: “Mine did this the other day, was going to contact CR about this as so dangerous.” A third responded: “Both my two-toned cracked when filling from kettle ages ago and one navy cracked in microwave with milk in it, I emailed CR both times, zero response! Not good enough.” One more added: “It would be helpful if you actually did a red text overlay saying ‘RECALL’.” However others said they’d experienced issues with other Country Road mugs — not just the two-toned colour variety.
